A milestone in the construction of the new Appleton Pedestrian Bridge over Storrow Drive connecting the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood with the Esplanade park and Charles River has been achieved. A soaring steel arch with a span of approximately 225’ has been installed above the busy parkway. When completed this critical link will be the only ADA accessible pedestrian bridge to the Esplanade and a signature structure that complements the historic arches of the adjacent Longfellow Bridge. Construction is expected to be completed by early fall of 2018 or sooner. The bridge was designed by Rosales + Partners in collaboration with STV local engineers.
