A trio of new vertical lift bridges will replace two bascule spans over the Charles River between Cambridge and Boston, Massachusetts. The bridges will increase safety and functionality for riders taking commuter rail lines into North Station in downtown Boston. Additional tracks will also be added as part of the project. The bridges are slender and elegant with a curved profile that complements the context. The project will also replace a control tower and extend the bridge platform to connect new tracks to the existing network. The bridge will be visible from a distance and will be illuminated to complement the adjacent iconic Zakim Bridge.
