The proposed multimodal NW Quad Bridge will cross over railroad lines owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Visually consistent ADA-compliant ramps will connect to the main span. The bridge will connect two of the fastest growing neighborhoods in Cambridge and encourage residents to use nonmotorized modes of transportation. The bridge will be visible from long distances and will help identify the crossing in the adjacent residential areas. A new connection to the Alewife MBTA station and adjacent regional trails, via the new bridge, will help reduce congestion. This iconic structure will feature a distinct red color, striking aesthetic lighting, and refined architectural detailing.
