City of Sheffield, UK

The bridge site is characterized by undulating parkland and the long sweeping curves of the Sheffield Parkway. To complement the natural landscape and create an iconic footbridge, we propose a three-dimensional curved arch with a unique configuration. The arch shape is the direct result of detailed form-finding structural calculations. It will be angled over a curved deck to a point of balance in which the arch structure will not experience bending moments under dead load.
