A new bridge with a single inclined arch is proposed over the Belt Parkway, a major New York City thoroughfare. The new bridge will incorporate higher clearances and ADA-accessible ramps. The ramps and the bridge will flow seamlessly over the landscape with minimum impact to views of the waterfront and Verrazzano-Narrows suspension bridge, which are adjacent to the pedestrian bridge site. The position and angle of inclination of the arch were designed to minimize stresses on the arch under dead load, creating structural and visual equilibrium.
