The new Dave Lyle Bridge will cross Dave Lyle Boulevard and railroad tracks that for many years have been an obstacle for connectivity between two important areas in the city of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Part of the Storyline linear park project, the new pedestrian bridge will connect old downtown, city hall, and Fountain Park with a new area of redevelopment that also includes Winthrop University. The bridge consists of a pair of inclined steel needle towers and angled cables that pay homage to the historic mills and textile factories that used to be the main economic engines for the city of Rock Hill. The cable-stayed bridge, which resembles open arms, will also include overlooks, seating areas, curved staircases, aesthetic lighting, native landscaping, and complementary parkland. The new landmark bridge will become a welcoming symbol of the city, enhancing Dave Lyle Boulevard and downtown for generations to come.
